Gerber Training Underwear Hack

So, I thought I'd share this hack I used to make my Gerber training pants from my first child more absorbent for my second child. It's so super simple, fixing one pair of training pants takes about 15-20 minutes, and very few supplies. I got the idea from a pair of Lunapads cloth pads I have.

So here is what you'll need:
1. Your Gerber underwear
2. Sewing needle (not pictured)
3. Thread
4. Rick rack
5. A newborn/premie prefold (or a similar sized, natural fiber cloth diaper insert; Not pictured)

All you have to do is cut lengths of rick rack to reach from one side seam to the other, then sew it to the inside of those side seams--I used a blanket stitch. Also, make sure the rick rack falls over the seam where the extra "padding" meets the top panel (see photo below). Repeat on the other side of the underwear.

Then simply "stuff" the underwear with the prefold (or insert). I have a Grovia newborn prefold pictured below.

Hope this helps some mommies out there! These under wool shorts work awesome for potty training 😀

Super Simple Homemade Deodorant

So I was in a pinch today. My family had run out of our store bought, natural deodorant, and making a trip to the store that might end up fruitless was not practical. Enter my google search! I came across a lovely tutorial by Sustainable Utopia. It uses 3 main ingredients and an old deodorant container to recycle. Click here for the recipe and instructions, and enjoy your homemade deodorant!
